Sean Bellemuer, who has won seven Top Alcohol Funny Car events in 2018, set himself up for eighth after dominating Top Alcohol Funny Car qualifying during second-day qualifying at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Ca.

Bellemeur's quickest run came in Friday afternoon's Q-2 session 5with a 5.411, 271.79 to leapfrog both Annie Whiteley and Ulf Leanders.

Whitely replaced Leanders briefly atop the qualifying list during the Q-2 session with a 5.455, 272.23 pass.

Thursday's leader Leanders concluded qualifying with a 5.461 best, at 268.17 miles per hour.

Top Alcohol Dragster standout Shawn Cowie replaced Thursday's top runner Joey Severance atop the qualifying list after two sessions with a 5.203, 280.54 best.

The third and final session was rescheduled until Saturday morning when the race schedule fell behind because of a day filled with oildowns and other moments of mayhem.

Friday's leader Severance fell to second with a 5.204, 277.83 followed by Julie Nataas with a 5.232, 279.79.

All remaining NHRA sportsman began eliminations on Friday.
