LIVE VIDEO" INAUGURAL CAPITAL CITY CLASSIC, MONTGOMERY, ALA.

Thanks to our coverage partners at DragStory.com and Mark Walter, we present to you the live video feed from the Capitol City Classic.

With new ownership, many things have changed at the old Montgomery Motorsports Park. Not only the name to Capitol City Motorsports Park, but they've repainted the tower, and upgraded the lighting to make it one of the best lite tracks in the southeast!

Now comes the first big-money event of the year for the east coast paying $50K, $100K, and $50K to the winners through the weekend.

FOR JEFF TAYLOR, THE ROAD TO HIS 50TH DIVISION WIN WAS ANYTHING BUT SMOOTH

At the conclusion of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 4 points meet in Nobile, Okla., Competition Eliminator driver Jeff Taylor admired his yellow 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt as it sat in the winner’s circle. He turned to his engine builder David Nickens and said, “You know that thing looks a whole lot better parked there in front of that sign than it did parked under those tires on Thursday.”

To say that it was an eventful week for Taylor would be an understatement of epic proportions. In Competition Eliminator, it seems there’s a story of struggle behind every success, and Taylor’s most recent win is no exception.

When the seasoned Sportsman competitor traveled to Oklahoma from his home in Sellersburg, Ind., he had yet to see, much less sit in, the car he would be driving. Nickens was bringing it from his shop in Texas with his brother, Robert, and nephew, Buddy.

In another day and age, David Stark's 1959 Karman Ghia would have been an L/Gasser racing within Modified Eliminator.

STEVE COLLISON: THE MAN WHO LOVED DRAG RACING TO DEATH

01_22_2010_collisonGifted writer, talented photographer, innovative editor – Steve Collison was all of that and so much more.

He passed away at age 54 nearly a decade ago, on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, fittingly while hard at work at his desk, pounding out the latest issue of Drag Racing USA.

Collison, who was inducted into the Drag Racing Hall of Fame in 2003, left behind a legacy as one of the premier photojournalists in drag racing history. More important were the relationships he forged with others in the industry – photographers, writers, manufacturers, and, especially, racers. With him, it was always about the racers. Collison – "Stevie" to his friends – may have been on a first-name basis with every pro driver in the sport, but he valued his relationships with no-name little guys at least as much.
