CLASSIC VIDEO - TELEVISION BROADCAST OF 1981 NHRA U.S. NATIONALS
Travel back in time to 40 years ago, when the NHRA schedule expanded to 11 races. However, regardless of how many races NHRA staged in a season, there was only one race no other could hold a candle too -- The U.S. Nationals.
The 1981 U.S. Nationals represented a change toward what would become the future as 32-car Top Fuel fields were replaced with 16. The Funny Cars were starting to spread their wings and fly, and of course the Pro Stock category featured its clash of titans, as Bob Glidden and Lee Shepherd continued their war from 1980.
Enjoy an hour of entertainment, complete with commercials from a race which has proven to be like no other over the decades.
