Former NHRA starter Mark Lyle was a man's man, the kind of race official who envisioned the big picture of drag racing accordingly. The drag racing community endured a huge loss when on Sunday, March 27, 2016, Lyle died in what has been described as giving his life to save another.

After a long and trying day of qualifying, Lyle took the time out from his personal time to explain the intracacies of the complex staging process. This was the kind of person Lyle was.
