Danny Byrd knows a lot about racing stick-shifted cars having raced with the NHRA since the early 1960s. The longtime Lucas Oil Sportsman racer class raced back in the day when class eliminations at Indy sometimes drew about 32 cars in the same classification battling it out for a chance to race in final eliminations. Byrd has longed for those days, and to fill the void he's found a home racing C/Gas with the Southeast Gassers Association.
