If you had to pick a driver to win a race at Kentucky Speedway, Brad Keselowski would probably be the safest bet.

But late in Friday night's Kentucky 300 in the Xfinity series, Keselowski saw himself trailing 19-year old hotshot Erik Jones. But Keselowski was able to use his veteran precision to make the pass when Jones' momentum was halted by the lapped car of David Starr. Keselowski, once again piloting the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang, held off a final charge from Jones to take the checkered flag.

Keselowski, who led 72 laps, admitted he overlooked Jones late because of the lead he and Kyle Busch built on the field, Keselowski believed his fellow Michigan native Erik Jones drove a great race but knew the key to getting back around Jones late was to keep the pressure on the young driver.

"We had a real good car tonight," Keselowski said. "I think the top three were all real close, probably a little give and take here and there from run to run when the sun was out, tires, whatever it might be. Kyle (Busch) and I had kind of stretched out a pretty good lead at one point, I think, over Erik (Jones). Maybe I built up a false set of confidence because when Erik got by me there on that last restart, I thought 'Ah, we'll get right back by him,' and it was not easy. Erik drove a great race and I was able to hang with him just enough to pressure him and it got him in a bad spot with a lapped car there, not really of his own fault, just hard racing and when it happened I was able to jump all over it.

The win is Keselowski's first on the 2015 Xfinity series season is his 33rd victory in the series overall and moves him to fifth on the series' all-time wins list. Keselowski, who also won the 2012 Sprint Cup championship, now has five total wins at Kentucky Speedway.

Keselowski's victory also marks the 50th time Team Penske has been to victory lane in Xfinity series competition.

The 31-year old Keselowski believes it's a humbling experience to be able to pilot the cars owned by Roger Penske.

"It's credit to (crew chief) Greg (Irwin) and the team for having a great car to where we could make the most of the opportunity," Keselowski added. "I feel very, very humbled and proud to get to drive a car this good, year in and year out, at the Xfinity series level. I've been in situations where the cars weren't that way, believe me. To know everytime you get in the car you have a shot at winning every race, every season. That's really, really awesome and something to be proud of. To get that 50 win number for (team owner) Roger (Penske) is special."

Jones still managed to walk away with the runner up spot, it marks Jones tenth top-ten finish of the 2015 Xfinity series season. Jones, who led 22 laps in race, didn't know if he had a car to contend at first but believes his finish demonstrates the value of track position.

"It was a good night overall with the whole 20 group, getting the Freightliner Camry up front and in contention to win at the end of the day," Jones said. "I didn't know at the beginning of the day if we had a car which was good enough to compete with the 54, at first, then the 22, obviously came on pretty strong after the first couple of pit stops. We fought up there. Track position was so big all night. We were just trying to get some kind of clean air, whether it be in the lead or anywhere else."

Kyle Busch made his third start of the 2015 season and dominated majority of the night leading a race high 88 laps. The third place finish is Busch's sixth top ten finish in the Xfinity series at Kentucky Speedway. Jones and Busch's Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Daniel Suarez finished in fourth place while Elliott Sadler rounded out the top-five.

Current Xfinity series points leader Chris Buescher finished in the 11th spot and extended his lead to 36 points over defending Xfinity series champion Chase Elliott, who finished two spots behind Buescher in 13th place.
