FEEDBACK FRIDAY – SHIRLEY SAYS: A NEW COLUMN BY SHIRLEY MULDOWNEY

FEEDBACK ARTICLE – SHIRLEY SAYS: A NEW COLUMN BY SHIRLEY MULDOWNEY

4_24_2009_shirley.jpgI always love to hear what Shirley has to say.  I'm glad that the Internet is keeping her more active in racing than she would otherwise be.  I remember seeing her at match races when I was a kid in the 1970's at places like Epping and I think she also went to Oxford, Maine.  I have her book, which I found very entertaining.  I don't agree with everything she has done in her life, but it's none of my business.  The bottom line is -- she's great to listen to! - Earle Holt

Thanks for taking the time to write. It's not easy putting down on "paper" how you feel. The autograph I will never forget is one Richard Petty signed. He always takes the time to look you in the eye and sign his full name in beautiful writing just like you. Thanks for being you. - Greg and Traci Sterbens

I liked her column and her straight shooting way of talking. I had the pleasure of watching her win in Columbus, Ohio, each time.  I had the honor of getting a hello and an autograph from her.  I know that if I had the $$$ I'd do whatever to get that pink dragster back out there for some butt kicking. - Jack W. Smith

I ran into Shirley in March at my local veterinarian here in Michigan. She was very pleasant and we chatted for a few about the state of NHRA drag racing for awhile as she was petting my new rescue pooch. She speaks her mind and I love it. She's like the Tony Stewart of drag racing. Shirley’s stats are awesome. I’d say what her and Rahn did was quite a feat. Rock on Shirley. Maybe replace Paul Page in the booth?

Hmm... - Rick Rzepka

Shirley, keep the articles coming.  I stood in a 3 hour line for an autograph from you at the IHRA event in Scribner NE.  You hung around until everyone was through the line.

My Wife and Daughter watched "Heart Like A Wheel" many times, and I'm sure they felt they were on those runs with you.

I thought you were "feisty" but, at the same time "classy".

Keep writing Shirley.   -- Loren Schmidt

Give 'em hell, Shirley!

I look forward to reading your columns and hopefully you will write about your trials and tribulations of being one of the first women to "beat the boys" at their own game and all the garbage thrown your way. - Cheryl Leister

Great catch on Shirley. Been a fan of hers from the start. Looking forward to hearing it like it is ... nothing held back! - Jerry Clarke

I loved this article.  I'm a huge Shirley fan and I think it's great she's back on the scene.  I only wish I could see her strapped in a Top Fuel car just one more time! I'm looking forward to her next article! - Ali Buscio

I think Shirley is right and I, along with my family and friends, think that she is such an icon of motorsports and would love to see her back at the track in some fashion of the racing side of a team where she needs to be. Shirley, you are so wonderful and there are a lot of us fans and racers who think the world of you. I for one have respect for someone who will tell the truth (tell it like it is). I know it sounds funny, but when I watch "Heart Like A Wheel" I still get a little choked up. Keep up the messages and Go Shirley Muldowney. GOD Bless and hope to see you sometime soon. -- Chaun and Pam Benfield.

Shirley got it right on the button about these jerks and their chat rooms starting unfounded rumors. They spit out words that mean nothing just to see where they might land. They are the same type morons that create computer viruses for meanness or steal a nickel when they could make a dollar honestly. They are people who are nobodies and whose lives mean nothing and contribute less to society. They are just looking for their 15 minutes of fame, but lack the backbone to speak their minds in public. A good number of them probably are quite intelligent, IQ wise, but there is a world of difference between being intelligent and being smart. The world is full of educated idiots and a lot of them show up in the Internet. - Ted Smith

Shirley could not have hit a better home run then when she brought up the bit about some people who just make a quick scrawl and don't even try to make eye contact. It is my belief that fewer with quality is better than more with nothing behind it. – Eric Bruns

Hey Shirley!

Loved your new column!! You are an EXCELLENT writer - truly!!! You put so much heart and passion into everything you do! That is what I have always admired about you!!

Thank you for staying strong and for never giving up hope. You are a true inspiration and I can't wait to have the honor of seeing you again very soon!!

You are loved and appreciated more than you know! - Heidi Corzine

I saw her race when the little Chevy didn't even have a blower on it. Her attitude then appears to be the same as it is now. I think it's great to hear someone who has been there speak about the way things were and the way things are without all the corporate correctness. I think that once the corporate big wigs figure out that taking a stance on an issue is not a bad thing motorsports in general will be more entertaining to more people. If this ever happens the people in the business like Shirley will be more in demand. Until then if all I can get is what she writes for this site that will be good enough! - Bill O'Connell
