Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com Publisher Bobby Bennett today announced two key moves to further establish the Internet magazine’s position as a leading source for drag racing news and commentary.

Jeff Wolf, nationally known for his thought-provoking columns, which appear on Fridays in the Las Vegas Review Journal, will become a monthly columnist for Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com.

“This is a great opportunity for me to be able to talk more to drag racing enthusiasts because drag racing has always been my passion,” Wolf said. “I never had the opportunity to drive a race car, but I lived through magazines in the 60s and 70s because I didn’t have anyone to take me to the drag strip. In my job at the Las Vegas Review Journal I have to talk to all forms of racing, but given a choice it would be drag racing.

“Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com is one of the best, if not the best, vehicles out there to communicate real drag racing news and not regurgitated press releases. I believe my role is to speak to the drag racing fans. It’s not about the sanctioning bodies or the track owners. It’s about the fans.”

Jon Asher, a four-decade veteran of drag racing journalism, has also been promoted to the newly created position of News Editor, and will now carry the dual titles of Senior Editor/News Editor.

During is career Asher has served as the editor of such publications as Drag Racing Action, Car Craft Magazine, Petersen’s Drag Racing Magazine and numerous others. He joined the staff of Torco’s CompetitionPlus.com in February of 2005, with his “Up Front” column attracting one of the largest monthly reads for the e-zine.

Bennett believes these moves send a clear message regarding the future of the online publication.

“We are moving two of today’s leading journalists into positions that will ensure we are a primary stop on the average drag racing fan’s search for the daily news,” Bennett said. “We have solid goals for our future in this industry. Moving Jon into a leadership role and bringing Jeff aboard effectively allows our actions to speak louder than words.

“We are determined to bring accountability to the sport of drag race reporting.  We believe that honest, fair reporting of confirmed facts in as timely a manner as possible will continue to separate Competitionplus.com from other sites devoted to the quarter mile sport.”
