NOTHSTEIN REPLACES TOWNSEND AS DRIVER

Frank Parker, owner of ParkerTech Racing Services, and his co-crew chief father, Dan Parker, announced that Marty Nothstein has signed a two-year agreement to drive their Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Nothstein replaces Danny Townsend, the multi-time NHRA TAFC champion who successfully piloted the ParkerTech Dodge for three seasons.  Townsend elected to sit out the 2007 season after a final-round accident in September.  He will remain with the team as a valued and highly skilled advisor.

Nothstein, an Olympic and World Champion athlete, focused his fiercely competitive nature on drag racing only recently.  After completing Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School, he moved through the super comp ranks to a limited TAFC schedule in 2006.  Joining Parker’s team fulfills his goal of driving for a top-ranked alcohol team with a full-season schedule.

“Being selected to replace a driver of Danny’s caliber is an honor,” Nothstein stated.  “Frank has run a successful team for five years, winning NHRA National and Divisional events, setting track records and never failing to qualify.  As an athlete accustomed to winning at the highest level, the team’s accomplishments tell me volumes about the Parkers.  Together, we’ll have the resources and desire to contend each race and maximize our sponsors’ investments.  And I’m confident we’ll have a good run at the national TAFC championship.  The 2007 season can’t start soon enough!"

Future releases will announce sponsor relationships, car preparation progress and a 2007 race schedule.
