NOTHING LIKE THE FIRST WIN FOR SEWARD

Bryan Seward found it very difficult to fight back the tears on Sunday as he won his first career Pro Modified event during the recently completed Snow Bird Outlaw Nationals in Bradenton, Florida.

The longtime sportsman racer, who is in his fourth year of running Pro Modified, finally raised his first trophy high into the air. The tears began to flow freely.

“It was a sight for a 42-year old to be crying like a baby, but I just could not hold them back,” said Seward.

The dew point during final round caused the track to be very difficult to negotiate and Seward covered “about half a mile to get the quarter mile win.” Posting a 6.27 in his supercharged Mustang, Seward bested the 6.36 of the nitrous assisted Camaro of Dan Bandish in the final round and secured his first career win.

Seward got a “freebie” in the first round when his opponent broke. “Which was very fortunate because we had to wait so long to see if he could get to the line, we heated the clutch and blew the tires away” said Seward. Jeff Enslin could not beat the 6.36 by Seward in the semi final match that set up the final with Bandish.

In addition to winning the first event of his career, Seward added the first number one qualifier to his resume. Seward posted an “arrow straight” pass of 6.24 to claim the top spot going into Sunday’s elimination rounds.

“We could not have completed the weekend obviously without the entire team,” said Seward. Seward was appreciative of the effort and split the winnings with all of the members of the team.

The win sends the Seward team into the 2007 with renewed confidence. A new 1969 Boss Mustang is being prepared in the shop of crew chief Rick Hickman and will complete a two-car team for the Seward racing operation during the upcoming season.

The winter months will be busy for the team as the entire operation will be moving from Naples, Florida to Tennessee to consolidate the team’s resources. In addition, Seward will be securing financial assistance that will enable his team to make sizable contributions to a charity that benefits children. Announcements of the charity and sponsor will be forthcoming as the details are completed.

Involvement with a charity that benefits children is very close to the heart of Seward. The youngest child of the Seward family suffers from Downs Syndrome and “I know how it feels to have people help you out and I want to be able to help other children and families”, said Seward.
