8TH ANNUAL DRAGWAY 42 HANGOVER NATIONALS

On January 1st each year some people take the "polar bear plunge" while
others sit home and watch college football bowl games, but in West Salem,
Ohio racers are able to participate in the country's longest running New
Year's Day drag racing event, Dragway 42's Eighth Annual Hangover Nationals.

This kickoff to the 50th Anniversary Season at Dragway 42 will feature
heads-up racing on a 20.07 index for any street legal vehicle. In addition,
if time and weather conditions allow, a 100% payback Gamblers Race will
also be held as part of Monday's action. On January 1st each year some people take the "polar bear plunge" while

At the 2006 event over 200 racers traveled from Ohio, Michigan,
Pennsylvania, and Indiana to shake off the winter blahs and get a seasonal
dose of quarter-mile action. If there is any doubt that racers take their
sport seriously, during the 2006 Hangover Nationals Fredricktown's Harlan
Updike made a dead-on 20.0600 elimination pass.

The final round matchup at the 2006 event saw Brunswick's Aaron Herbert use
an over 4-hundredths of second holeshot in his 4 wheel drive Chevrolet
pickup to take a double breakout victory over the North Lawrence based Ford
Escape of Ron Stayer to take the event crown.

Herbert ran 20.0198, 39.58 mph on the 20.06 index to Stayer's 19.976,
33.65 mph.

For 2007, Dragway 42's gates will open at 11:00 AM. The first round of
eliminations for the 8th Annual Hangover Nationals is scheduled for 2:30
PM. Continuing the tradition of maximum fun for a minimum charge, the
$10.00 fee to race or to watch at this event remains unchanged from
previous years. Passengers are welcome to ride along during time trials and
eliminations at the Hangover Nationals. As always, children 14 and under
are admitted to this event free of charge.

There isn't a better way to start off the New Year than spending an
afternoon with family and friends racing at Dragway 42. Be There!!!!
