UPDATE: THE NORWALK DEAL

Torco’s Competitionplus.com stands by the story we first broke in mid-July about the possible sanction change of Norwalk Raceway Park from IHRA to NHRA.  Rumors have been wildly circulating through the drag racing world for the last couple of weeks, so we’ll reiterate our previous statement in an effort to stop some of the really wild speculation:  Shortly after this weekend’s IHRA World Nationals NHRA and NRP officials will jointly turn the rumors into reality.  Numerous changes are planned for the much admired Ohio facility, some of which will make the track unrecognizable to long-time visitors and competitors when they arrive for the track’s first POWERade Series national event some time next summer.

Fans who’ve regularly mobbed the track to see the likes of John Force compete in the infamous Night Under Fire show need not fear, as the show, including its $100,000-plus fireworks display, will remain on the track’s slate of events, albeit on a new date.  We will have the complete, factual story about this momentous development early in the week, including the plans for another Ohio track that figures into this equation.
