Super Comp standout Lindsey Wood completed her A/Fuel dragster licensing process at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway today.  Following Friday’s 400’ shakedown pass of 7.43,115 mph, Wood jumped in the saddle Saturday to make her first full pass of 5.42, 237 mph.  To finish up licensing, Lindsey made a second run of 5.64,201 mph.

The rookie into Top Alcohol Dragster ranks is no stranger on the drag racing scene.  Beginning with Jr. Dragsters in ‘94, Wood compiled an astounding 57 bracket/index wins, 17 heads-up style wins, along with 22 low-e.t. qualifying spots before her final season in 2002.  The 2004 year marked the beginning of her entry to the Super Comp racing where she scored a Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series quarter-final finish in Gainesville, a semi-final finish in Orlando, and a win at Montgomery to end the season 4th in Division 2 competition.

In 2005, Wood continued her momentum with another Lucas Oil Series runner-up finish at Valdosta and win in Gainesville to end Division 2 points standings 2nd.  She also went on to win the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, ending the year ranked 10th nationally.

Wood has licensed with and will drive the 2007 season for Darien & Meadows, the same team to have developed drivers like Brandon Bernstein and Ashley Force.  “We are really excited to have Lindsey on board with the group for this year,” said team co-owner Jerry Darien.  “She has already shown a tremendous amount of potential in driving this racecar in just the few passes she’s made.  Success is sure to continue for this girl.”

“This is such a great opportunity for me as a driver.  To be in an A/Fuel dragster is the ultimate stepping-stone for my future career, and to have the chance to drive for the Darien & Meadows team is just unreal,” said Lindsey Wood.  “Their experience and knowledge in this class is unparalleled.  I really have to thank the support that has come on already from CSR Performance Products, John and Lynn at Harden Welding Services, Jerry Barker Hummer, K&N Filters, and Valvoline.  It’s going to be a great season of racing.”

Wood, a McAlpin, Florida native, will begin racing in Division 2 events at Bradenton, Gainesville, and Valdosta before her first national event appearance at the Gatornationals in March.  Chris Perl, a member of the Darien & Meadows team, will be driving the car at the season opening Winternationals in Pomona, California.
