The team will compete for the championship in the entire 2007 IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series and select NHRA POWERade events.

Wordsmith Media, Inc. is a California-based communications company specializing in periodicals, book publishing and DVDs, including the all new Race News Magazine. Race News Magazine will have its logo displayed on the Top Fuel Dragster throughout the 2007 season. In addition, the Race News Magazine sponsorship will be highlighted on team uniforms, trailers and merchandising items.

"We are proud to be part of the Zizzo Racing Team with our premiere publication, Race News Magazine," said Wordsmith Media CEO and Race News Magazine publisher James D. Griffith. "We’re also excited about TJ’s chances on the track and confident this partnership will give us the best opportunity for the championship this year. ‘Keeping pace with the race’, Race News Magazine hopes to raise the awareness of the exhilarating world of motor sports through our existing distribution channels in Borders, Barnes & Noble, Wal-Mart and many other national retailers."

Race News Magazine will cover Formula 1, NASCAR, IHRA and NHRA racing in ten issues annually, beginning with the premiere edition this April. Wordsmith Media has 14 new periodicals scheduled for release in the next 18 to 36 months.

zizzo-griffith_editsmall.jpg"I am really excited about our involvement with Race News," said team owner Tony Zizzo, Sr. "There's an incredible base of race fans that will appreciate Race News for its content and it will bring more awareness to our team and the IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing series. Jim Griffith, Peter Londregan and especially Marco Glisson have really made us feel a part of the Race News family. I can't thank them enough for their help and support in putting this partnership together."

When asked how the Wordsmith Media / Zizzo Racing partnership came together, Zizzo, Sr. gave much of the credit to the team marketing director, Cathie Gallo. "Cathie carried the torch for a long time," he explained. "From the beginning, she believed this partnership was a perfect fit. Today, it is a reality."

TJ Zizzo agreed, "We're really looking forward to being a part of the Wordsmith Media business plan. It's important to our whole team. This Top Fuel team has been together for four seasons. Some of our team members have been with us for 14 years and raced with us in every class that we've competed in. It's the first year we can actually come back on Monday with a smile on our face, not only from winning, but also knowing that we're competing for the championship."

With less than seven weeks before the Amalie Oil Texas Nationals takes place in San Antonio, Zizzo Racing is quickly preparing for the IHRA Nitro Jam season opener.

"It's an exciting time for me as a driver," TJ said. "It's the first time since 2000 that we've been able to go after a championship. The last time we were able to do that, we became champions driving an Alcohol Dragster in UDRA competition."

The team has kept busy this off season, updating the dragster's chassis at Murph McKinney's and preparing for the 2007 season. They expect to pick up where they left off at the end of the 2006 season.

"We had a combination that worked well last year," Zizzo, Sr. explained. "We aren't going to make too many changes. In fact, we're going with the same combination we had last year."

In 2006, the Zizzo Racing team earned low qualifier honors at both Martin (4.664ET at 314.61MPH) and Budds Creek (4.615ET at 325.61MPH), including an event win and semi-final appearance respectively. The team's effort at Budds Creek also rewrote both ends of the track record, unseating Clay Millican's previous record.

"We can chase down the championship for the 2007 season," TJ said. "If we do exactly what we did at the end of last year, we will do very well."

Currently, the graphics for the dragster are being prepared by Rodney Kness at Rod's Shop. Graphic applications will be completed by Sticker Dude of Lake Zurich, Ill.

More announcements are expected from Zizzo Racing prior to the season opener.
