BOGACKI WINS THE CASH

Noted bracket campaigner Luke Bogacki picked up his first win of the 2007 season at his first event Saturday at the Footbrake Nationals at Mobile Dragway.  There, Bogacki wheeled his familiar Mickey Thompson Tires backed Vega to a $5,000 victory over Rick Ament.  Both drivers ran dead-on their dial-ins in the final round, with Bogacki’s 5.693 (5.69 target) besting Ament’s 5.802 (5.80 dial) by a mere .006 by virtue of his .028 to .036 reaction advantage.

“It’s an awesome start to the season, for sure,” said Bogacki.  “I was real shaky on the tree for the first few rounds, but once I shook off the rust my lights settled in a little--and I really felt like I drove well on the finish line.  I just want to thank each of my marketing partners, specifically American Race Cars, Huntsville Engine & Performance, and Bill Taylor Engineering for their help with research and development this off-season.”

Bogacki followed up his victory with a quarterfinal appearance in Sunday’s event, where he fell to eventual runner up Roger Kelley.  Sunday’s $5,000 top prize went back to North Alabama as well, as Adam Davis drove his ‘76 Nova to the victory on the strength of a string of .00 reactions, capped by a .004 in the final stanza.

“Adam’s win really topped of the weekend,” said Bogacki.  “He’s got my old Nova.  We’re real good buddies, and we towed to the race together with his two-car trailer.  So to take both trophies back in one rig made for a pretty fun ride home!”
