According to Weisinger, the event will feature $30,000 in gifts prizes and awards with guaranteed purses regardless of car count.

Weisinger told CompetitionPlus.com, staging this kind of race had always been in the back of his mind as an alternative when announcing the postponement of the World Street Nationals.

"I just felt it was the right thing for me to do," said Weisinger. "We have a large Puerto Rican population from Jacksonville to Orlando to Miami to do just fine. Last year at the World Street Nationals, I can tell you that the Sport Compacts stole the show. They were a phenomenal part of the show. They made jaws drop when they ran.

"A lot of the participants in this event will be local. We are so close to Puerto Rico that many of the racers can put their car in a container and bring over here. This kind of racing has a big following here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. I needed something to fill the void."

The World Sport Compact Challenge will pay $10,000 to win and racing will be contested on a heads-up, pro-tree basis.
