Speedtech Nitrous Systems arranged a Pro Mod test session for their customers, as well as all interested race teams, at South Georgia Motorsports Park this past weekend, and the track outside of Valdosta proved once again why is is considered one of the best facilities in the Southeast for preseason testing.

20 Pro Mod teams turned up, and it didn't take long for the records to begin to tumble. Mike Neal, driving Don Stroud's Pensacola, Florida-based supercharged Studebaker, had the best elapsed time of the session, carding a solid eighth-mile mark of 3.884 seconds at 187 mph. Josh Henandez, driving the blown "Dr. Moon's Rage" Camaro out of Texas took the mile-per-hour record with blast of 195.31. He nearly eclipsed Neal's E.T. mark in the process, coming up just a tick short with an effort of 3.885.

The best nitrous pass recorded was the 4.05 laid down by Johnny Pilcher at 4.05.

Keep in mind that these were the best elapsed times and speeds of those made public, because the scoreboards were not turned on, and as many teams are wont to do in the preseason, many kept their performance information to themselves.

Other noteworthy runs (where information is available) included those made by Tommy Gray, 4.05, Michael Vick at 4.11, and Michael Neal, who had a pair of 4.01s at 180.  Other racers out to test included Pat Stoken, Steve Vick, Shannon Jenkins, Randy Weatherford, Rex Kelly, Matt Hagan, Joe Baker, Troy Critchley, Ronnie Davis, Chip King, Burton Auxier, Steve Engle, and Rickie Smith.

The Pro Mod contingent had some company in the form of the IHRA Pro Stock machines of John Montecalvo, Cary Goforth, and Dean Goforth. Montecalvo had the best times of the group, posting a lap of 6.386 seconds at 218.90 mph, narrowly missing Pete Berner's 6.382 track record. Dean Goforth ran a 6.39/218 and Cary Goforth ran a 6.43/219.

Just wait for the ESTN next month!
