Alan Dobson, West Australian native and the driver of the Rapisarda Racing Top Fuel dragster recorded the quickest run of his career with a 4.601-second pass to claim the number one qualifying position going into tomorrow's final eliminations of the fourth Summernationals prese nted by NRMA Motoring + Services.

"I've wanted to make a return to Sydney and I couldn't think of a better place to do it than at WSID - truly a world class facility," exclaimed Dobson.

Top Fuel delivered a good show with the fans witnessing two side-by-side four-second passes, both in excess of 300mph. The first was run between Dobson and Phil Read, with Dobson's 4.601 to Read's 4.637 now standing as Australia's quickest side-by-side pass in Australia.

"Once again we have proved that WSID is a world-class facility. Top Fuel is stronger than ever at the moment and I am sure that this is going to mean big things for the sport in the future. To have two side-by-side four second runs is absolutely incredible - not to mention that out of the seven cars entered here this weekend, five of them have made it into the fours. Never before has this been seen in Australia," remarked WSID CEO Jim Read.

Top Doorslammer was also a crowd favourite. Prior to the c ommencement of this fourth Summernationals, constant speculation was in the air regarding the number of cars that had entered and what the bump spot might be. After three rounds of qualifying, the bump spot was held by Stuart Bishop at 6.233.

Benny 'The Kid' Bray made his return known by qualifying solidly in the field with a third position 6.056. Ben's father Victor, six times Australian champion, failed to qualify with a time of 6.270. Normally this would be considered very respectable, however it just wasn't good enough to make the quickest-ever field in the history of Top Doorslammer in Australia.
