Troy Critchley drove the "Dr. Moon" tuned 1970 Plymouth Barracuda to an AMS Pro Mod record-setting 241.41 mph, shattering the previous record of 239.40 mph which he had set in 2006 at the NHRA US Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind.

"I'm having a proud moment, for sure," the Australian-native said. "I think any time you can set a record in such a great field of cars, you've got to feel really good.

"Howard has this 'Cuda running incredibly well, and we're just enjoying ourselves while we're making really fast laps," Critchley said.

Critchley's quickest pass of the day, a blistering 6.054/240.98, has him currently qualified fifth after two out of three qualifying rounds. If his record stands after the entire weekend, he will earn a precious 100 points in the $50,000 BAE Championship Cup points chase.
