Conrad "Connie" Kalitta, team owner, drag racing legend and Scott's father, is the owner and founder of Kalitta Air, a worldwide air freight company based in Ypsilanti.

Kalitta Air, a strategic partner with the United States Postal Service and the Department of Defense, provides end-to-end network solutions for all mail to the Middle East and Persian Gulf for civilian and military personnel.

Kalitta Air, in cooperation with DHL, provides mail transportation, security and all terminal handling services to DHL’s Bahrain hub, as well as  other Defense Department locations throughout Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. According to Mr. Kalitta "it takes a great deal of team work and coordination between Kalitta Air and DHL to deliver the staggering volume of U.S. mail from around the world, into and out of these countries."

DHL, founded 38 years ago in San Francisco, Calif., has built the world's premier global delivery network by trailblazing express shipping in one country after another. Over 220 countries and territories later, DHL has grown to be the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry.

"We're thrilled to have DHL on board with us," Scott Kalitta said. "The relationship that my dad and Kalitta Air have built with DHL is tremendous, and we are looking forward to building upon that relationship with DHL in NHRA drag racing with our Kalitta Motorsports Funny Car team."

Kalitta returned to the Funny Car class last season after many successful years at the helm of a Top Fuel dragster. He won the NHRA Top Fuel World Championship in 1994 and 1995 as well as 17 NHRA national event trophies, but got his first professional NHRA national event win under the carbon fiber canopy of a Funny Car in Houston in 1989.
