AUSSIE TOP ALCOHOL RACING

This weekend's fourth running of the annual Snap-On Nitro Champs will be the last time that the quickest Alcohol powered Dragsters and Funny Cars are seen in Sydney for the 2006/2007 season. As always, regardless of where these cars are running they always put on one hell of a sho w and this weekend is definitely not going to be an exception to that rule.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about this class is that Dragsters and Funny Cars have the opportunity to duke it out to determine who really is king of the sport.

According to the racing that has already taken place this season, it would be fair to say that the Dragsters are definitely the Kings of the Sport. This conclusion has been the forced truth all because of the efforts of Wayne Newby, pilot of the Gatorz eye-wear sponsored Top Alcohol Dragster.

"We have had an excellent season so far and I see no reason why it won't continue this way. Dad and Jason [Newby] are really on top of the combination this season and we definitely showed that last time in Sydney at the Summernationals by recording the first 5.5 second dragster pass in the history of Australian Top Alcohol. Should we be able to continue this strong effort we will have our second Australian Top Alcohol champions hip locked up", remarked Wayne.

The only man that really has the potential to end the dream of a second championship for the Newby team is the pilot of the Kitten Car Care Products Ford Mustang Funny Car, Brett 'The BOSS' Stevens. Brett is currently second in the 2006/2007 points standings.

"My hat is off to the Newby team for their achievements so far this season. To see them run a 5.5 second pass in a dragster is truly amazing. My crew have worked hard all year long and our on-track performances have shown that. As a team we have all that's needed to display the number one on the side of the car for next season, however, the only thing that's standing in the way is the Newby team. We're not going to give this one up just yet, we're going to really be turning the pressure up this weekend in Sydney", remarked Stevens.
