JEGS Automotive, Inc. and the NHRA North Central Division have announced a unique special 2007 year-end event for the new NHRA Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster Series. 

The inaugural Top Dragster JEGS Shootout event will be held in conjunction with the NHRA JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway, Sept. 29.

The inaugural Top Dragster JEGS Shootout event will be held in conjunction with the NHRA JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway, Sept. 29.

The elite eight-car shootout field will be made up of the top four in the NHRA Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster Series point standings and the top four qualifiers based on qualifying points earned up to the JEGS Shootout event.  The winner will pocket $3,000 as well as a special trophy and jacket with $1,000 to the runner-up and $500 to each of the semi-finalists.

Qualifying points will be awarded at each of the North Central Division Spitzer Race Cars Top Dragster Series events leading up to the Shootout with 32 points to the number one qualifier, 31 to number two qualifier, etc.  In the event that a racer qualifies for the JEGS Shootout in both point standings and qualifying standings his or her point standings position will be used and the racer fifth or next in qualifying points would be invited.

The JEGS Shootout ladder will match the top points racers and top qualifying racers with potentially the leading point competitor facing the season's top qualifier in the final.  The JEGS Shootout eliminations will be run on a standard dial-in handicap race basis.
