CONNOLLY SIGNS SEELYE-WRIGHT AUTO GROUP

Dave Connolly’s Knoll-Gas Motorsports Chevy Cobalt will have a
different look this weekend when he arrives in Topeka, Kan., for the
O’Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka. But the paint job
is all that changes for Connolly, who is in hot pursuit of his first
Pro Stock championship.
Torco Race Fuels and Seelye Wright Automotive Group will be featured on the Evan Knoll-owned Chevy Cobalt. Connolly will continue to run as part of Victor Cagnazzi Racing’s potent two-car line-up that also features two-time Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr.
Connolly, winner at St. Louis earlier this month, thanked Knoll for “giving us all the funding we need to stay out here and run competitively in this extremely tough class. He’s definitely stepped up to the plate in more ways than one. He is one of the best owner/sponsors a guy could ask for. He has full confidence in his driver and team. Evan put us in a good position with a good team and good people to work with at Cagnazzi Racing.

Connolly, winner at St. Louis earlier this month, thanked Knoll for “giving us all the funding we need to stay out here and run competitively in this extremely tough class. He’s definitely stepped up to the plate in more ways than one. He is one of the best owner/sponsors a guy could ask for. He has full confidence in his driver and team. Evan put us in a good position with a good team and good people to work with at Cagnazzi Racing.
“The only big changes in the organization are the names on our cars,” Connolly continued. “Victor has great people working at the shop and the guys in the engine room and chassis shop have given us two of the quickest and fastest cars in Pro Stock. Tommy Utt, my crew chief, is like a second dad to me and we all get along like family.”
Knoll, meanwhile, echoed Connolly’s feelings.
“Yes, nothing has changed with Victor or the shop,” said Knoll. “Hey, it didn’t work out with Slammers and that’s a shame, but that will not hold any of us back. We are going for the NHRA Pro Stock championship. Dave is still my driver and Victor is working hard like the rest of the great people he has at the shop.
“This is one bad team . . . and it’s Showtime.”
Connolly, 24, has been impressive in his three-plus years as a Pro Stock driver, finishing third twice (2004 and 2006) and fifth once (2005). He has 10 race wins in 21 final rounds. He currently is second in NHRA POWERade Series points with nine races remaining in the new Countdown to Eight portion of the season championship chase that eventually trims the field to four drivers before deciding the winner.
“I couldn’t ask for a better team,” Connolly said. “It’s kind of a dream come true for me to be in the position we are now, working for Evan and Victor both – two standup guys who have a lot going for them.”.
Cagnazzi Racing and Knoll Gas Motorsports earlier announced that BlueWater Communications Group in partnership with Cisco Systems has joined the team as the official technology partner and as an associate sponsor of the team.
