GRIFFIN COMPLETES CARRIER PURCHASE

Scott Griffin Motorsports has completed the purchase of the Cory McClenathan driven, Honeywell/Fram sponsored Top Fuel dragster from Carrier Boyz Racing.

McClenathan and Griffin, good friends and fierce competitors in both the IHRA and NHRA, will now join forces in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship with what fans and observers believe to be an odds - on chance to finish high in the money. For Cory Mac, one of the most accomplished, celebrated  and respected  drivers in NHRA history (No. 3 among active drivers with 29 event wins) it marks the start of a march to the coveted POWERade Series championship that has eluded him, albeit by the smallest of margins, so far. img_4816_edited-1.jpgUnder new leadership, the team will make its debut in the O’Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka

“New beginnings are always important in any sport,” said team owner Scott Griffin, “and this is our first time together as a team. We have great sponsors supporting us and one of the best drivers in Cory Mac, backed by a top-tier crew led by veteran Wes Cerny and his assistant Tony Shortall. It’s simply a winning combination.”

“You have to be excited about working with Scott Griffin,” said Cory Mac. He really knows what it takes to win, both on and off the track, and I know he will make the resources available. The car’s running good now and we have momentum. I  hope to hand Scott, the team and all of our sponsors- Fram, Bendix, Prestone, Autolite, Torco, Jegs.com, GMC, MAC, Lucas, Serta, Motel 6, Nordic, American Racing, Seelye Wright and Atlantic Claims-  a POWERade Championship Trophy at Pomona this year.”

Griffin and the team will be making an exciting announcement Friday at Heartland Park Topeka.

Scott Griffin Motorsports maintains corporate offices and a race shop in Wilmington, N.C., but will keep the Fram team based at its current home in Brownsburg, Ind.
