RUSSO LEADS PMRA POINTS

When the first of five Pro Modified Racing Association events for 2007 was completed at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario May 20, the win by John Russo was the tenth in as many PMRA races.
 
And with his win, the Camaro Pro Modified driver from Massachusetts presently leads the PMRA Point Series sponsored by Wix Filtration Products, Valvoline, a division of Ashland Inc., Uni-Select, and Moen Incorporated with 351 points.
 
Another new PMRA team for 2007 is Ike Maier of Tottenham, Ontario and Maier with his Camaro is in second place with 332 points. Driving the Kirk Silbermann 1957 Chevy Pro Modified out of Ajax, Ontario, is Scotty Wildgust, who is third in the standings with 330 points. PMRA Point Series a tight race for upcoming Cayuga event

Welland, Ontario’s Larry Sinke, who was number one qualifier at the first race in his Hammer Racing 1967 Nova, is fourth with 326 points, and rounding out the top five is Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario who has returned to Pro Modified racing with his 1937 Chevy. Irving is right behind Sinke with 325 points.
 
And last year’s co-champion, Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario, is right behind Irving with 324 points in his Smokin’ Joe’s Dodge Avenger, while Kenmore, New York’s Joe Lilienthal, the 2005 PMRA champion, is next with 323 points.
 
With such a tight group, the series leader is anyone’s guess after the next event, the Third Annual KC Auto Parts Family Day Spectacular, to be held June 16 at Toronto Motorsports Park. Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Sylvania, and Independent Electrical Distributors will present this event and many of the PMRA teams will be on hand to do battle at the Kohler Road strip.
 
Joining the PMRA at Toronto Motorsports Park will be the CAN-AM Stock/Super Stock Series. This popular grass-roots drag series that features competitors from Ontario and Michigan, was formed in 1996, and continues to grow each season.
 
Qualifying for the Third Annual KC Auto Family Day Spectacular - PMRA Challenge presented by Paul Wolf Electric & Lighting Supply Inc., Sylvania and Independent Electrical Distributors will begin Saturday afternoon with the eight quickest teams returning for the final eliminations under the lights on Saturday night at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario on June 16.
