FishersThey are best known in the CompetitionPlus.com arena as the Married with Dragsters couple. Next season, Kathy and Kevin Fisher hope to assume another role -- Top Dragster contenders.

Starting in 2015, Kathy will take over the driving chores of a new Top Dragster machine in a class previously raced by her husband, who will step away from driving to focus on crew chief and tuning roles.

Kathy will open the season with a new car and engine combination. The Fishers plan to build a 2015 American Race Cars, 270 wheelbase hard-tail slip-joint dragster.

"We have had a lot of success with our Ohio Crankshaft powerplant in our dragster with the F-2 Procharger, but we are ready to take it to the next level," Kathy said. "The car Kevin has been driving has been good for us, but it's not good enough for the direction NHRA Division 3 Top Dragster is headed. I know there are a lot of tough Top Dragsters out there, but Division 3 is certainly the place."

While stepping away from a proven combination can be an intimidating experience, Kathy says by working with her longtime associates she and Kevin expect the transition to be seamless.

"We've had a lot of success with my American car in working with Mark Horton and Travis Colangelo, and we look forward to taking this to the next level. What Ohio Crankshaft is going to do with the engine we've had will step our power level up even more. The car is going to have lost weight, the engine will have lost weight, and we will be changing drivers."

Kathy is no stranger to racing and the industry, racing Super Comp and serving as co-host of Velocity's Performance TV. She also serves as the voice-over provider for CompetitionPlus.tv.

"Kevin will be able to focus more on the crew chief and tuning of the race cars," Kathy said. "I feel it is more important to give him the information he needs to make those choices."

Kevin said he's okay with stepping away from driving because it helps the team.

"I've been driving for three decades, and in that time I learned the term team player is exactly what it means," said Kevin. "She is a lot lighter and we need to shed weight from the race car to run the numbers we want to run. It is really a no-brainer."

The Fishers will continue many of their longstanding relationships in 2015.

"We are looking forward to having the same partners along for next year with K&N Engineering, Ohio Crankshaft, Borla Headers [who is building one-of-a-kind zoomie headers], Aesthetic Finishes and Armor Coat. We will run a new Moser 9-and-half inch floater with their new braking system."
