TALE OF TWO SCELZIS
Two Scelzis were
interviewed on Sunday. Can you correctly distinguish which is the adult
and which is the ten-year old?
During Sunday’s race, a
Scelzi was interviewed over the public address system.
“Boxers or briefs?” he was
asked.
“Thongs, because that’s what my boxers became after that run,” he answered.

During Sunday’s race, a
Scelzi was interviewed over the public address system.
“Boxers or briefs?” he was
asked.
“Thongs, because that’s
what my boxers became after that run,” he answered.
A full day of racing was
completed and a cool, calm and collected Scelzi was asked by a member of the
media about what transpired during the day.
“We ran really good,” he
said. “I was a little nervous going into first round because we had a little
mishap and made it down the track once and that was in the night session. If we
make it down in the night session, we are usually top ten. We got lucky and we
were number one. The track was happy with us and we got the win.”
In case you haven’t
figured it out yet, the former is Gary Scelzi and the latter is his son Dominic.
Scelzi’s thong experience
(and we’ll take his word for it) came after a second round experience when his
head sock partially covered his eye as he staged forcing him to light the bulb
and nail the throttle simultaneously. Following the monumental win, teammate
Ron Capps swiped the microphone from top-end man Alan Reinhart and began asking
questions that provided TMI (too much information) moments.
Dominic and younger
brother Giovanni accompanied father to the press room for his post-race press
conference. The second-generation Scelzi never flinched when the opportunity
presented itself.
And just like the elder
Scelzi one day earlier, Dominic had the media in the palm of his hand.
