RANSOME CAT SPONSORS FULLER

Current NHRA Top Fuel point leader Rod Fuller will pilot the yellow-and-black Ransome CAT dragster during the 23rd running of the Toyo Tires Nationals. David Powers Motorsports and Bensalem, Pa.-based Ransome CAT have partnered for the Reading, Pa. event, Aug. 16-19, at Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, it was announced today. This is the sixth time that David Powers Motorsports and a Caterpillar dealer group have joined to back Fuller’s car this season.

The relationship between David Powers Motorsports and the CAT dealer groups is designed as a pilot program to increase technician recruiting. Caterpillar dealers are experiencing a shortage of technicians and NHRA drag racing offers a technician-rich recruiting environment to find qualified candidates with experienced mechanical backgrounds. Ransome CAT is a full-time Caterpillar dealer serving eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and northern Delaware. Ransome CAT operates 13 locations and employs more than 600 people.

“I’m back in black,” Fuller joked. “I’m excited because Ransome CAT was instrumental in getting the talks started with Caterpillar. To represent Ransome and Caterpillar is exciting. I’m going to one of my favorite tracks on tour, Maple Grove. It’s the home race for my clutch guy Shafty (David Karcanes) and he’s really excited too. We can secure the No. 1 spot in the Countdown and that’s what we plan on doing.” Current NHRA Top Fuel point leader Rod Fuller will pilot the yellow-and-black Ransome CAT dragster during the 23rd running of the Toyo Tires Nationals. Fuller enters the 17th race on the 2007 NHRA schedule atop the NHRA Top Fuel standings, holding a 93-point advantage over Brandon Bernstein. The Las Vegas resident has two victories in four final-round appearances this season, along with earning three poles. Fuller and his Rob Flynn-led team have advanced to at least the semifinals at 11 of 16 races this year. Last month, he drove his Wagner CAT-backed car to the win at the Denver race at Bandimere Speedway. It was his fifth career Top Fuel win.

"Ransome CAT is excited to participate in the Dealer Technician Recruiting program with David Powers Motorsports as it will not only help the organization grow, but also enhance the dealership's presence in the Philadelphia market,” Ransome’s Ron Moser said. “Sponsorship of the No. 1 Top Fuel car driven by Hot Rod Fuller provides a sense of pride for all Ransome employees and helps in the efficacy of what the organization strives to achieve in all areas of sales and services with our customers."

Ransome CAT will display Caterpillar equipment at the Reading race. They will have a location in the popular Manufacturer’s Midway area of the pits where fans can inquire about a career as a Caterpillar dealer technician, acquire information on the CAT equipment, and meet Fuller.
