400 THUNDER RELEASES 2017-2018 RACE SCHEDULE

400 Thunder, Australia's premiere professional race series, will race an expanded schedule during the 2017 - 2018 season.

In addition to foundation tracks Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway as well as Springmount Raceway in Cairns, the 400 Thunder Series has added four new venues to the calendar for the upcoming season.

With three major events at both Sydney Dragway and Willowbank Raceway, and new events at Calder Park in Victoria, the Perth Motorplex and Adelaide International Raceway,  Top Fuel will compete at six Championship rounds across the season, with an additional two non-championship showdowns at Calder Park and Adelaide International Raceway.

Pro Slammer and Top Bike will have the busiest schedule of all professional categories, with eight Championship rounds apiece, with Pro Slammer at every track on the calendar at least once over the season.

Pro Alcohol will compete in six event, with a return to the Perth Motorplex sure to be a highlight of the season in March.

Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike race at seven and five rounds respectively.

“We are excited at the prospect of taking 400 Thunder nationwide over the new season,: said 400 Thunder Chairman Tony Wedlock. "There have been some minor delays in the release as we worked through some issues to ensure that the calendar works for all stakeholders, and by consulting closely with the racer representatives and the new promoters to the series I think we have a calendar and series that will provide the platform to drive the sport into the future.

“This is year one of an expanded National Series, introducing four new tracks to the 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Series. As we move forward into subsequent years, we aim to reshape and improve the calendar."

Professional racing might be the primary focus, but sportsman drag racers have not been left out, with Springmount Raceway to host the opening round of the 400 Thunder Sportsman Series in October. In total, the series will have eight rounds of the Championship including a split round at Willowbank Raceway - with half of the sportsman categories to compete on 25th November and half to compete at the Jet Car Thunder on 14th April.

The sportsman racers will conclude their season at the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals with a 200 point maximum for the coming season.
