NHRA RACEDAY THIS SUNDAY

ESPN2 and ESPN2HD will air a special presentation of its popular pre-race show, NHRA Race Day, to preview the Countdown to 1, the two-race championship round of the NHRA Playoffs that will determine the 2007 POWERade Series world champions.

The show, hosted by David Rieff with analysis from 22-time winner Mike Dunn, will air Sunday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. (ET) and originate in-studio from ESPN Regional Television in Charlotte, N.C.

The show, hosted by David Rieff with analysis from 22-time winner Mike Dunn, will air Sunday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. (ET) and originate in-studio from ESPN Regional Television in Charlotte, N.C.

The special presentation of NHRA Race Day will take viewers on a tour around the country to talk directly to some of the drivers who have successfully navigated their way through the 17-race regular season and the four-race playoff, the Countdown to 4, to advance into the two-race championship, the Countdown to 1. Featured interviews include:

·  Tony Pedregon, the current Funny Car points leader and 2003 NHRA POWERade World Champion, will be on from Detroit;

·  “Hot Rod” Fuller, currently second in points in the Top Fuel, will be a guest from his hometown of Las Vegas, site of the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, Oct. 26-28;

·  Greg Anderson, the three-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock world champion, who will visit the studio in Charlotte;

·  Andrew Hines, three-time and defending NHRA POWERade Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion, will participate on the show from Indianapolis.

In all, there are seven NHRA POWERade world championships between the scheduled guests with one guest, “Hot Rod” Fuller, looking to claim his first.

The Countdown to 1 begins October 26-28 from the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the seventh annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. The following week, the two-race championship round concludes with the 43rd annual Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, November 1-4.

All the action and drama of the last two races of the season can be seen on ESPN2 and ESPN2HD. Qualifying from Las Vegas airs Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 p.m. to midnight (ET) with final eliminations scheduled on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 7 - 10 p.m. (ET). Qualifying at the season-finale in Pomona will air on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 p.m. to midnight (ET) with the final race of the season scheduled to air on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 7 – 10 p.m. (ET).
