Super-tuner Dick LaHaie, who was lured out of retirement by the blandishments of team owner Connie Kalitta, will return to a quieter existence after next weekend’s Finals.  LaHaie received the proverbial offer he couldn’t refuse from Kalitta to come back out to the races, which included a lavish salary and point-to-point air travel in a Kalitta private jet, but he’s happy to be leaving.  As anyone who knows the sometimes hard-headed Kalitta can confirm, he’s absorbed LaHaie’s pointed advice, yet rarely followed it.  When LaHaie asked him why he was paying him so much money not to follow his advice, Kalitta reportedly responded by saying, “Ah, I just like having you around!”
