KING OF THE COAST CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES HITS HOMESTRETCH

The Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Bracket Series visits State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge, LA with Event 5 of 7 slated as the Championship Points Battles could not be any tighter in all classes of competition as racers vie for the coveted "KOC" Championship.

The Pro Electronics Category has Baker, LA veteran bracket racer Wayne Henry holding on to a slim one point lead over Long Beach, MS native G.O. Fennell. Fennell had a strangle hold on the points lead all season long until Event 3 at State Capitol when Fennell was only able to produce 2 points on the weekend, and Henry struck for a seven point weekend and thus a one point lead going into Event 4 back in August which was a rain out both days. All racers only earned race competition points that weekend. With Event 5 coming up this weekend, Henry holds the top spot with 26 points and Fennell 25 points. James Page of Slidell, LA who until late last year was a highly decorated Footbrake Racer, 2007 MS State Bracket Championships Pro Footbrake Champion, stepped into the Electronics world and did not skip a beat with numerous final round appearances around the Southeast. Page has earned a tie for the 2nd position in the standings with Fennell also with 25 points. David Reynolds of Petal, MS and 2007 "KOC" Champion Tadd Gates of West Monroe, LA hold the tie for the 3rd spot with 24 points. The remaining current "KOC" Top 10 are Kris Morris Pride, LA & Lester Bernadas Jr with 22 points, Alan Jordan of Canton, MS with 21 points, Mike Buchwald, Wade Ellis & Wade White round up the Top 10 with 20 points.

The Pro Footbrake class is just as tight the Pro Electronics Category. Jim Griffiths of Foley, AL, who has over 10 combined WINS in 2007 at Mobile Dragway, Gulfport Dragway, State Capitol Raceway and Montgomery Motorsports Park, took over the points lead with 33 points at Event 4 when Reid Mocherman, 2005 "KOC" Champion of Slidell, LA was not in attendance. Going into Event 5 Griffiths holds a slim one point lead over Mocherman. Back at Event 3 at State Capitol Raceway Griffiths made to final round both days in which one was a WIN over Mocherman and the other a R/U to heavy hitter Mike Barnett of Columbia, MS. Griffiths has appeared in the final round at all three BracketNews sanctioned Events in 2007 at State Capitol Raceway. Elton Smith of Poplarville, MS  and Reigning "KOC" Pro Footbrake Champion Pat Koepp of Foxworth, MS hold down the third spot with  23 points. The remaining Top 10 are Multi-Time Hub City Dragway Track Champion & IHRA Summit Super Series Champion Delman Busha of Petal, MS with 20 Points. Eric Coludrovich of Long Beach, MS holds the 5th spot with 18 Points followed by Curtis Allen, Duane Dyess & Jerry Hyatt each with 17 Points. Michael Payne of Saucier, MS rounds out the Top with 16 Points.

The Jr. Dragster Division in 2007 was split into three categories. 13+ (7.90 Min. Dial),  10-12 (8.90 Min. Dial)  and 8-9 (12.90 Min. Dial) to make the Jr. Races more competitive, and this is was has happened.

The 13+ Class has second generation driver Timmy Fieramusca holding a two point advantage over Chaz Robicheaux. Fieramusca has held the points lead since day one, but after Robicheaux won both events at Event 2 back in April and out pointing Fieramusca at Event 3, Fieramusca's lead has shrunk to the two point margin. Sean McRaney 18 Points, Dustin Clark 15 Points, Kristen Johnson 13 Points and Alli White 12 Points Round out the Top 5.

The 10-12 Class has Alex Tritt of Picayune, MS and Mariah "Flea" Rester in dead lock tie each with 25 Points. Tritt has held at least a portion of the points lead all year long but the resurgent Rester put up an 11 Point Weekend at Event 3 to pull even in the Points Chase. Brandon "The Kid" Henry of Baker, LA and Destin "The Ice Man" Bailey are right on the heels of Tritt & Rester with 23 Points each. Brittney Kizzar rounds out the Top 5 with 18 Points.

The 8-9 Class features third generation driver Blaine Stewart of Bogalusa, LA who has made four final round appearances in 2007, holds a three points advantage over second generation driver Darian Boesch of Metairie, LA with 20 Points. Stewart and Boesch have met in the final round three times this year. Bam Bam Rester holds down the third spot with 16 points, and well within striking distance for the Championship. Sisters Selena Bailey and Hannah Bailey round out the Top 6. Selena took her first ever Jr. Dragster WIN in only her second race back in June at State Capitol Racway.

The staff of the Huntsville Engine "King of the Coast" Series, Gaylon Rolison, Tommy Castanedo, Jennifer Rolison, Candace Rolison and Tina Dahl wish all racers vieing for the Championships the best luck and we look forward to crowning the 2007 Champions.
