BRISTOL'S FOOTBRAKE CHALLENGE
Thu, 2007-12-20 05:30
On the heels of their immensely successful inaugural event, Jared Pennington and
Steve Stites of Coalburg Racing Promotions are proud to announce that the 2nd
annual World Footbrake Challenge presented by Jeg’s and BTE at Bristol Dragway
is slated for May 23-25, 2008.
The second edition of the World Footbrake Challenge will essentially mirror
the inaugural event in terms of purse structure and schedule. Friday’s opening
event will pay $10,000-to-win, with $100 round money starting with the third
round winners. Saturday’s main event will once again pay a guaranteed $50,000
to the winner, with $250 round money starting with third round winners. The
event will conclude with another $10,000-to-win event on Sunday, using the same
purse structure as the Friday event. The event features buy backs in the
opening round of competition only. The only major change for 2008 is a reduced
price of the Saturday buy back, from $300 last year to $250 for this year‘s
event.
The inaugural World Footbrake Challenge played host to over 300 footbrake
competitors from throughout the country, each vying for their shot at glory and
big money on the Bristol Dragway stage. Defending $10,000 champion Chris Plott,
and defending main event champion Scotty Richardson will undoubtedly be in
attendance to defend their crowns, as will two-time 2007 runner-up Luke
Bogacki. The event will also provide several opportunities to win cash and
prizes throughout the weekend for competitors who are not fortunate to advance
deep into the event. Several round sponsors and specialty awards are in the
works, and Coalburg Racing Promotions will make these additional announcement in
the coming weeks.
“We had a great time at the inaugural event last season,” said co-promoter
Jared Pennington. “Steve and I, along with the outstanding Bristol Dragway crew
feel like we put together a fun, fair, competitive event; and we’ve taken a look
at a number of ways we can make the 2008 event even better. We’d like to thank
each and every entrant from 2007, and welcome them back to Bristol Dragway this
season, and invite every serious footbrake competitor who could not make the
2007 event out to Bristol for the ’World’s Greatest Footbrake Race.’”
The 2008 edition of the event will be held at Bristol Dragway Memorial Day
Weekend -May 23-25. The event is scheduled to be completed Sunday evening,
allowing the Monday holiday as a travel day for racers to get home and miss as
little work as possible. In the event of rain, Monday will also be a rain date
if necessary to complete the event. Three day event entry is $800 at the gate,
or $675 for pre-entry (by April 1, 2008). Early bird pre-entrants (February 1,
2008) will receive one free weekend crew pass.
To pre-enter the event, send a check or money order to Coalburg Racing
Promotions, 411 CR 400, Falkner, MS 38629. Or pre-enter by phone with your Visa

four rounds). For complete rules and details, view the 2008 World Footbrake
