So far, here are the unofficial results -
Aaron Polburn is pulling the upset early as he leads top seeded John Force, 652 - 258, on the strength of his "We Took The Wrong Person To The Hospital" story." Voting for this match ends today at 5 PM, EST.
Gary Scelzi appears destined for TOP VOTE of the round with his "Grinning Rental Truck" tale involing Ron Scelzi, or is that Gary Capps? He's hammering Larry "I Need Some Sleep" Morgan by a 725 - 124 margin. Voting for this match ends also today at 5 PM, EST.
Another upset special is Joe Lepone, Jr. topping Don Prudhomme by a 440 - 241 margin in voting that began on Tuesday. Voting for this match ends Friday at 5 PM, EST.
Scotty Cannon is also gunning for TOP VOTE of the first round with an incredible 578 - 75 lead over Whit Bazemore. Voting for this match ends Friday at 5 PM, EST.
Yesterday's competition has been extremely tight and there are still two more days of voting left.
Bob Glidden's 1970's tiger in the tank tale leads Steve Earwood's Moose-betting, reefer smoking daredevil story by a 310 - 161 margin.
The closest match has been the Animal Jim Fuerer versus Pat Musi competition. Musi jumped out to the early lead with his tale of the disoriented foreign drag racer who was intent on racing him from the finish line to the sandtrap -- UNDER FULL POWER! Overnight, Feurer's racer who had crashed his Mustang II almost seven feet into a tree and no one noticed holds report snaked by to a 246 - 208 margin. Wednesday's competition will vote until 5 PM on Saturday.
Today's final pairs will match the Tom McEwen drag racing pranks against Don Schumacher's Freddie Denane experience. Wrapping up the competition will be Shirley Muldowney's 1980 Seattle experience when her crew was detained by the police between rounds squaring off with Roy Hill's hitman match race for the Maurice and Richard Petty against Bill Jenkins.
