Don Gillespie, longtime drag racing photojournalist and former media relations manager for the IHRA, is working hard at completing a third installment of his "Lions - The Greatest Drag Strip" DVD series. Gillespie is gunning for an October 2008 release.

“I was recently able to conduct on-camera interviews with Dale Pulde, Larry Reyes and Don Hardy,” Gillespie said. “My Christmas present this year was a plane ticket. I will be flying to Texas in two weeks to do same with Hayden Proffitt. After this past year's reunion I was able to sit down with James Warren and Bones Balogh.”

Gillespie needs help, though. He’s looking for 8mm and/or 16mm home movies of Lions from the mid-1960s thru The Last Drag Race (Dec. '72).

“It seems everyone took a camera to the meets prior to '66, then it really falls off the radar screen,” Gillespie said. “Not just on-track film, even garage and candid family footage helps paint a picture of the life and times!

“Any assistance, or leads, is greatly appreciated, in order to properly conclude a terrific story.”

Gillespie will be at this year’s March Meet and he plans to spend a few days before and after the event.

“If any of you racers have a funny (true) story to tell, this is your final chance to have it saved for the ages,” said Glidden.
