TEXAS RACEWAY GOES ALL CONCRETE
Initial construction has begun at Texas Raceway in a multi-faceted improvement package highlighted by an all new 1/8 mile concrete racing surface. The new track is complemented by a fully integrated concrete guard wall barrier that extends to 1000 ft in both lanes, along with a new burnout box. Race fan amenity improvements include permanent rest room remodeling. Rounding out the package are additional pit and return road paving with increased lighting for the pits and the track.
TXR owner, Cindi McMillan says,
“We are serious about 2008 and beyond. The decision to make this considerable
investment is a tribute to the excellent racers that we are blessed with. We
like to think of this as another way to celebrate our 2007 NHRA Team Bracket
Championship for our Killer Bees.” Everybody’s favorite general manager at TXR,
Bubba Corzine echoed, “Our goal is to provide our racers with the best track
surface possible. Our mission is to have the fastest, most consistent 1/8 mile
drag strip in the nation, with added safety as a bonus.”
TXR’s construction project is itself a fast paced operation with conclusion slated for mid February, with re-opening scheduled for February 20. For updates and timely photos of construction progress, check out www.texasraceway.com .
