Pro Stock owners Kenny Koretsky and Greg Hill are combining their racing operations, creating a two-car team they believe will be a solid contender for the 2007 NHRA POWERade Series championship.

“We are blending the teams,” said Hill, owner of the Indicom Electric Chevrolet Cobalt team and Fast Boyz Racing, “and Kenny will be driving my Cobalt for the final three races of 2006 and the full 23-race 2007 season. Kenny will begin driving the car in Richmond this weekend.”

Koretsky, meanwhile, will keep his Nitro Fish Dodge team intact until the end of the season. Dave Northrop will drive the car and Larry Morgan will supply the engines at races in Richmond, Las Vegas, and Pomona, Calif.

“It costs a lot more to field a competitive one-car team than it used to,” said Koretsky. “Greg Anderson and Jason Line have moved the bar up a couple of notches and if we want to compete with them, we need to run two cars. And we will. We definitely will run a second Chevy Cobalt in all 23 races next year.

“While I have enjoyed driving a Dodge for the last few years, I am looking forward to going back to General Motors and the Chevy Cobalt. I will be testing Greg’s Cobalt before we go to Richmond. I’m excited.”

Eddie Guarnaccia, Koretsky’s longtime crew chief, remains in that position. “Eddie and Tomi Laine, Hill’s crew chief, will be working together.”

Koretsky, based in Richboro, Pa., has owned Pro Stock teams for more than 20 years. He raced a limited NHRA schedule this year to make sure his body was fully healed following a racing accident at the Texas Motorplex one year ago this weekend.

“Kenny started his Pro Stock career in a Chevrolet and we are pleased he’s coming back in Chevrolet Cobalt,” said Fred Simmonds, General Motors Drag Racing Marketing Manager.

Hill, of Joliet, Ill., has owned a Pro Stock car for five years.

“Kenny and I had planned to wait until next year to get this program going, but we decided after last Sunday’s race at Reading we might as well get an early start,” said Hill, who released driver Dave Howard after the race.

“I believe we can challenge for the Pro Stock championship next year because we’ll be sharing the information from two cars and Steve Schmidt will be building our motors,” added Hill. “Schmidt has built our motors for the last four years and we’ve had fast cars. Rick Jones will build our Cobalts.”
