NHRA Top Fuel driver Troy Buff took a few minutes in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel during the Dallas event to talk to young fan Cole Runyan. Buff invited the youngster and his father to come out to the races.

Ty Runyan was so impressed by the gesture that he agreed to become a sponsor for the upcoming event in Pomona.

Runyan's company, Titus Electrical, will sponsor the car, which will carry the message "Your #1 Fan, Cole Runyan" in lieu of his company's name.  This is a continuing dream for everyone involved.

The Coghlan Motorsports Top Fuel team was sponsored by Old River Volvo/Volvo Trucks for their limited 2006 racing schedule.

Team owners, Tim and Renee' Coghlan said, "After Volvo fulfilled their commitment for the five races, we went searching for sponsorship for the Pomona race.  We brought in a Nashville-based sponsorship and marketing company, WRPM, and decided to focus on the 2007 season.  Then, we received an email from the Runyans thanking us for our hospitality at the Dallas race.”

Buff gave Runyan a call to thank him for the email and explained they would not be going to Pomona because of lack of sponsorship.  That is when Runyan offered to sponsor the car for the race in Pomona and put his son's name on the car.

"We are so grateful that they are taking the time out to sponsor us, and we are really looking forward to this weekend!" Buff said.
