ALUND AIMING FOR TWO FIA PRO TITLES

If there's one thing FIA European doorslammer sensation Jimmy Alund can never be accused of, it's being lazy.

Last season, Alund drove his way to both an FIA Pro Stock and Pro Modified championship race win. The only thing which could be harder than winning twin race titles is to win two championships, a goal he has set at the onset of the tour.

Alund entered the season as the defending FIA Pro Modified champion with his 1951 Chevrolet Business coupe and intends to race the full season with his Pro Stock Chevrolet Camaro. Last season, he ran a partial tour with the Summit-sponsored entry.

Chasing two FIA championships in a single season is quite a challenge.

"Yes, most definitely,' Ålund said. "It's been in the back of my mind, and now after two very solid seasons with The Old 51 team, we feel that we have the kind of strong and close relationship needed to go this extra mile.

"Of course the whole team behind the Summit Racing Pro Stock Camaro is central in this endeavor. They have tremendous experience and skills; they have of been instrumental in collecting our 10 FIA Pro Stock championships."

The FIA racing season opened with The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway, UK. A classic venue for drag racing. Alund qualified No. 1 in Pro Modified and reached the semi-finals. In racing Pro Stock for the first time since 2016, Alund parlayed a No. 2 qualifying position into a victory.

"Definitely, this came out well," Alund explained. "I could've done better in the seat but it's like the first day on the job getting the cobwebs out, I'm lucky to have such a good team giving me a good car to drive.

"I hope you've all seen the new livery across the whole side of the Camaro, we now have an even bigger commitment from our main sponsor Summit Racing Equipment. It really sets the standard for us this year, we're in deep and solid to fight for the 2019 FIA Pro Stock championship."

Alund left Santa Pod as the leader in FIA Pro Stock and in fourth place in the FIA Pro Mod standings.

The next race is the Tierp Internationals, Tierp, Sweden, June 7-9.
