ARP QUESTION OF THE WEEK RESULTS - IT'S A DEAD-EVEN TIE!

It was a dead-tie.

NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing fans were split down the middle as to a perfect number of events on the drag racing calendar in last week's ARP Question of the week. Of 6670 votes cast in the informal poll, 50-percent agreed the 24-event NHRA tour is a perfect size. An equal amount believed a 16-18 race schedule was a better option.

"With big sponsor money flowing into NHRA, Pro Racers, and better drag racing venues to capture TV eyeballs, I think the number of National events need to be where they are now and maybe add 1 new race a year when the economy is good," said reader Pat Squared, of Flower Mound, Texas via Facebook. "New lower cost coverage technology (like BangShift Internet race coverage) will help broaden the sport for sportsman and nostalgia race coverage and fans. The rising tide of event coverage will lift all boats."

"Absolutely downsize," Mike Parsons countered via Facebook. "Teams CANNOT get a $4mil/Year sponsorship for a full 24 race schedule. If this increases participation and competition at the events they keep I am all for it. The rapid market expansion under Compton was ill-advised and illl-timed."
