ARP QUESTION OF THE WEEK RESULTS - NEW TELEVISION PACKAGE NOT AN IMPROVEMENT
The new NHRA television package was not an improvement, said 52-percent of the 6,700-plus CompetitionPlus.com readers polled in the ARP Question of the Week.
NHRA made a bold move from longtime television coverage provider ESPN, to create an in-house production aired on FOX Sports and its network.
Despite the disdain of those quizzed, the show produced improved television ratings in the first-half of the year for its pro show with consistent start times and more live broadcasts than ever with live major network presentations. The Pro Modified and Lucas Oil Sportsman shows showed dramatically improvements over years past.
The reader comments were just as split as the week-long vote.
"They pretty much gave us an hr of friday qualifying and took away a descent timeslot for saturday, back to the same old record it crap!" Sherrie DeLeon said on the CompetitionPlus.com Facebook page. "Im not happy!"
"I'm satisfied," David Ward wrote on the CompetitionPlus.com Facebook page. "Overall, I saw more NHRA on TV this year than I have in the past 5 combined. FOX stuck to their end and aired shows multiple times. I don't like the "fast pace" coverage, and i dont like that they dont show all the runs or competitiors. I ended up buying NHRA All Access so I can watch whenever, wherever during a race weekend."
