With substantial rainfall and thunderstorms forecast by the National Weather Service through the weekend, the 24th Annual World Power Wheel Standing Championships scheduled for October 6-7, have been cancelled.

After carefully monitoring weather forecasts, Byron Dragway track officials determined that the forecast continues to trend in an unfavorable direction to complete any of the scheduled racing.

"While we are reluctant to concede, we make this decision in the interest of the many racers and race fans with significant travel time and costs.  If we saw any sliver of opportunity to pull the event off, we would push forward as we always do," Byron Dragway's media relations said in a statement.
