CRUNCHING THE VIEWERSHIP NUMBERS FROM NHRA’S LIVE NETWORK TELEVISION DEBUT


 

Live NHRA drag racing at the NHRA Mopar Mile High Nationals attracted 902,000 viewers (0.6 rating) to its major network television debut Sunday afternoon. These numbers initially reported on SportsMediaWatch.com, indicated the show garnered a 50-percent increase in ratings and 74-percent viewership from last season's 0.4, 519K ESPN broadcast.  

The race day initial broadcast was fourth highest of the season behind Englishtown (1.1 Million), Atlanta (1.4 Million) and Las Vegas (1.3 Million). Those races were aired on FS1 with a NASCAR lead in. 

Sunday's broadcast went head-to-head with NASCAR's Indianapolis event. The NASCAR Brickyard 400 generated a 3.1 rating and 5.2 million viewers while broadcast on NBCSN. 

The event rebroadcasts brought the viewership to 1.47 million, a total increase of 87-percent from 2015.  

The NHRA's television viewership is up 73-percent to this point over last season with the full combination of original television shows and repeats at 22.1 million viewers. 

Sunday's NHRA Sonoma Nationals live broadcast will also air on major FOX Network starting at 4 PM, EST.
