FOR LAUGHLIN'S PRO STOCKER IN BRAINERD, THE CARPET WON'T MATCH THE DRAPES

NHRA MelloYello Drag Racing Series driver, Alex Laughlin, will once again be ahead of the curve at the 37th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway this coming weekend.

The Two-Time Pro Stock Winner, who runs under the Elite Performance Umbrella, was in a Chevrolet Performance powered Camaro through the Western Swing. Brainerd on, he will be piloting the Technet Professional Services Dodge Dart with Chevrolet power under the hood

"We will be debuting our first cross manufacturer combination in Brainerd entering with a Chevy powered Dodge Dart," Laughlin said."We've spent half of the regular season battling problem after problem with my Camaro. We've changed everything from engines, transmissions, housings, shocks, etc; We even re-wired the entire car. Everything we did just seemed to set us back in another way with no real progress. Instead of continuing to throw money and time at the same things, we decided to switch it up. The last spot in the Top 10 is slipping away from me and we needed to make a big move to get in."

In an off-season rule change in 2017, NHRA officially allowed Pro Stock teams to run any currently approved engine combination in any currently approved body style, regardless of the manufacturer for the 2018 season.

Having all Chevrolet's in the Elite Camp, Laughlin and team had to come up with a plan in a hurry with only one weekend off in between The Western swing and Brainerd.

"The first plan wasn't just to jump into a Dodge. We needed a different car and options are limited on our schedule. The Kramer's were generous enough to let us borrow one of their extra Haas cars for the rest of the season. This car being a Dart.

After working day and night at Elite Performance's headquarters in Oklahoma for the past week, the finished product is on it's way to Minnesota having no time to test.

"We have no idea what this combination of a Chevy Powered Dodge Dart entry will bring, but I guess we will find out when we hit the track for the first time on Friday in Brainerd. Zero test runs. Straight into Qualifying. If anyone can get a quick hold of it, it's the guys we have in our corner."
