FRY DELIVERS ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE VICTORY

The competition couldn't stop her, and violent tireshake did little to slow her down. She killed them with consistency. Such was the story behind Mendy Fry's impressive victory at the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals at Thunder Valley Raceway in Boise, Idaho.

Fry rattled and rolled her way to a 5.66 elapsed time at 254 miles per hour to Dusty Green.

"It was pretty bad -- I didn't think I was going to make it. The team gave me a great car, and I didn't screw up," Fry said.

Fry entered eliminations as the No. 1 qualifier on the strength of a 5.65 elapsed time.

Under the lights, Fry defeated Jim Murphy in the opening round with a 5.67, 253 pass. She then used a 5.69 to beat Tyler Hilton to reach the final round.

For his part, Green scored victories over Brendan Murry and Pete Wittenberg to reach the final round.

Green was happy to reach the final round.

"It was a great weekend for the Nitro-Hemi team," Green said. "We had a good run against Pete and just didn’t have enough for the High Speed Motorsports team."

Fry's victory earned her the number one position in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Top Fuel Championship points battle heading into the fourth race of the five-race 2018 season at the Nitro Nationals at Tulsa Raceway Park September 21 - 22.
