Chad Head will continue to serve as the interim driver of the Tequila Patron Funny car at this weekend's NHRA Heartland Nationals in Topeka, Kan., the Alexis DeJoria Racing team announced Thursday. Head will be behind the wheel of the Toyota Camry in place of DeJoria.

Head has served as the substitute driver for DeJoria since the Four-Wide Nationals last month in Charlotte, N.C.

A date for DeJoria to return to the cockpit has yet to determined, but she did acknowledge in the press release she looks forward to getting back behind the wheel.

Head will continue to work with co-crew chiefs Nicky Boninfante and Tommy DeLago.

Qualifying begins at 4 p.m. May 19, and the race concludes May 21.

Head is no stranger to piloting a nitro Funny Car as he drove the past several years for his father, Jim Head's team.
