On June 1, 2019, Milan Dragway (10860 Plank Rd, Milan MI) will host thousands of drag racing, car-loving enthusiasts for one of the biggest events of the year, The Detroit Dragway Reunion. For the past nine years, those that used to frequent the Detroit Dragway gather to reunite, race and show off their one of a kind cars.

This day is open to all families and will also feature many local legendary racers, Nostalgia Funny Cars, Great Lakes Gassers, Gasser Legends, Bracket Racing, and a Nitro “Cackle Fest”. The Nostalgia Funny Cars and the Gassers are all original cars from back in the day that have been restored or some recreated to the spirit of the Detroit Dragway era.

The name “Cackle fest” comes from the sound of Nitro powered Funny Cars, Top Fuel Dragsters, Altereds idling and rapping the throttles all at once, they “Cackle”. 

Along with the day's activities, the Detroit Road Devils Car Club will display some beautiful Hot Rods.

This year’s reunion will honor legendary Tom Prock, Funny Car legend and NHRA Hall of Fame recipient. Tom Prock got his first taste of racing on the streets of Detroit. 

“Each year, the reunion brings out more and more families and racing generations”, said Deneen Baxter, VP of Milan Dragway. “It’s always great to see people reconnecting here that they haven’t seen in years and now they bring their children and even grandchildren really making this a great family event”. 

Gates open at 9 am and cars begin racing at 10 am sharp on Saturday. The event will continue until dusk as hundreds of cars will race throughout the day. The cost to enter at the gate is $20 and kids 12 and under are free.
