NEW LOOK FOR BUBBA STANTON IN NEW YEAR

Veteran Pro Mod driver Bubba Stanton will be sporting a new look for the new year, after Paint by Jeff Hoskins in Hillsboro, MO, applies a fresh coat of yellow to his race car.

"It was black when I got it and that's the way it's been," said Stanton, who purchased the car from NAS Racing two years ago. "But there are so many black '69 Camaros out there, and red ones, that I just wanted something different. I had a yellow car before and really liked it. That yellow always stood out and our fans seemed to like it, too."

Stanton, the 2006 ADRL Battle for the Belts Pro Extreme champion and 2014 PDRA Pro Extreme world champ, debuted the Jerry Bickel-built car as his own in July 2017 during the PDRA's visit to Indianapolis. Since then, he's primarily run outlaw Pro Mod events with it at Alabama's Montgomery Raceway Park and at the new Xtreme Raceway Park (XRP) in Ferris, TX.
"I'll probably do pretty much the same this year, but I might enter at least a couple of Keith Haney's Mid-West Pro Mod races, too," Stanton said. He also admitted to thinking about trying radial tires on it someday, but quickly added, "the big tire stuff is more my style, so I'll probably just stick with that."

The first race for the 2019 Iron Man Pro Mod Series at XRP is scheduled for Mar. 16, while the Southern Outlaw Tour opens Apr. 19-20, at Montgomery.
