NITRO FC DRIVER ALEXANDER RETURNING AT DALLAS

Nitro Funny Car driver Blake Alexander will be returning to action to compete in the AAA Texas FallNationals Oct. 15-18 in Ennis, Texas near Dallas.

Alexander last competed at the Gatornationals March 12-15, losing in the semifinals.

Alexander is driving a Dodge Charger owned by Paul Smith, who also serves as his crew chief. Alexander’s Funny Car is being sponsored by the National Pronto Association and Monroe Shocks for the race.

“We are going to Dallas with (National Pronto Association),” Alexander said. “We have been hands on with building a promotion and doing some other things to provide a great customer experience. We are going to run Dallas to set a foundation for this promotion that we have been building to show people its effectiveness and next year we hope to run in more markets with the promotion.”

And, Robert Ross, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for National Pronto Association, is glad to have Alexander representing the company.

“Blake and I have been working on developing the promotional side of this program and the event in Ennis, Texas is a great step forward. We are pleased to partner with Blake, his team and his other great sponsors to make this happen. Our Pronto members are all NHRA fans and are very excited for the opportunity to be involved in this program,” said Roos in a press release.

National Pronto Association is a North American shareholder-owned organization headquartered in Grapevine, Texas. Pronto was formed in 1979 and is a leading Program Distribution group with over seven billion in sales, with a focus on marketing, technology, and buying.

Alexander’s car will also celebrate Monroe’s nationwide Shocktober, which runs through Oct. 31 and allows customers to get four shocks for the price of three by way of Visa gift card rebate.

“I think it’s cool to be back out there with people on the side of the car who believe in me,” Alexander said. “I think Paul and I have done well together and I’m glad National Pronto Association and Monroe Shocks are letting us lay a foundation for this promotion.”

Associate sponsorships for Alexander at Ennis also include Bexar Waste, Gates Belts, and Dynomax Exhaust.

At Gainesville, Alexander qualified No. 15 and then registered consecutive upsets of Del Worsham and Tommy Johnson Jr., before getting upended by John Hale in the semifinals.

Prior to Gainesville, Alexander last competed in an NHRA national event at the 2014 U.S. Nationals.

Alexander qualified No. 15 and then stunned No. 2 qualifier Jack Beckman in the first round before losing to eventual race champion Alexis DeJoria in round two.

Alexander’s career-best performance was his runner-up finish at the 2013 spring race at Charlotte when he lost to Matt Hagan in the finals. That same season, he also made it to the semifinals in Bristol, Tenn.

Alexander made his first career nitro Funny Car start in 2011 at Reading, Pa., for Smith’s team.
