Investigators from Highlands County where Sebring International Raceway is located have narrowed down a cause of death for jet-car racer Katarina Moller killed Thursday evening from injuries sustained while making an exhibition pass.

According to a reported published by www.abcactionnews.com, Moller was scheduled to make two passes, but during the first, her car drifted left towards the centerline striking the timing equipment. Her parachute deployed but the car drifted right, making contact with the retaining wall before coming to a stop, essentially a low-speed impact with a tire-barrier near turn-one at the facility.

Moller was pronounced dead at the scene.

A final autopsy report has not been issued, but investigators have determined debris struck her helmet during the incident.

“We knew Kat well and were big fans of her personality and her driving skill,” Wayne Estes, president and general manager of Sebring International Raceway, told www.abcactionnews.com. “Sebring International Raceway and the entire racing community are heartbroken.”
